Many injured were just left to die.

Yes one of the most shameful episodes of WWII.
Hitler and Stalin engaging in a worthless fight over Stalingrad.

However to be fair, Stalin helped win WWII.
He kept engaging Hitler on the eastern front.
This allowed the Allies to be successful marching towards Berlin on the western front.
