It unlocks the steering column ?
Just no power to anything ?
Is it an 04 325 ?
Have you tried reinitializing the key ?
Try this
1.) Doors have to be closed and windows up.
2.) Push and hold the un-lock button. Keep holding this the entire time.
3.) Stick the key in the ignition and turn it to pos 1.
4.) Turn the key back and pull it out of the ignition.
5.) Now press the lock button 3 times and release the unlock button,
6.) Your locks should cycle and they key is now reinitialized.

Hi TS....here's an idea. See if there is a market for supplying FOBs for your particular. mod year, engine size, etc.
