Ok, so I'm new to this group and don't really yet understand what is standard fare around here, but I'm guessing this is not usually it. After 195 views no one comments. I am always glad when a piece is not full if hate, and this one is not, which is good but also means no one is getting worked up. But this actually bothers me. I am from a red state where this sort of talk is usually the intro to some very conservative views. I confess the whole "trust God even when things look bad" has always struck me as irrational. I love the idea that disasters are just the sort of challenge that should encourage us to be our better selves, I just don't feel the need for God brought into it.
