I had the same problem.
Most citizens are so much used to listen to the take story that the government is not so bad after all, US Army is out to protect liberty and freedom that when you tell them the truth, they would just not listen.
Anything you can do is to group with people who share your same view and try to do something.
Just complain is not (should not) be an option
