He was a top-tier recruit. A D1 football scholarship is a full ride. There are no partial football scholarships and, if there were, a 5-star recruit would not get one.

I fully realize that Hollywood takes liberties, but a lot of these seem to come from the family. The biggest problem I had with the movie at the time was that he absolutely knew how to play football at a very high level when he went to live with them.
