12. Love to Knit, but Crochet is not for me

Way back in 70's I tried crochet, did three projects. a rug, a throw and a vest. Was easy to learn, went fairly fast, but I guess I just liked knitting better.

Didn't start quilting until about 5 year ago, I am really enjoying making quilts. Just finished my blue willow plate quilt top, waiting for backing fabric, then off to the quilt shop for quilting. Now collecting purple fabric, not sure of a pattern. I enjoy making my own designs. I work out the design and measurements and draw my patterns on 1"-1/4"grid paper. Always make a few sample blocks to be sure they look like my plan. Sometimes they don't and I go back to planning.

Half the fun (to me) is making my own designs and picking out the colors and prints. Quilting has taught me a lot about color and how to use it for best visual impact.
