3. Oh, migosh! I remember hearing that for the 1st time. It seemed completely magical.

Had heard nothing at all similar to it before then. They seemed fantastically gifted to me, at the time, so far beyond other musicians.



Just went back to catch it again on YouTube and nearly fainted! What a shock! I saw immediately what you may have meant, felt so stupid it never occurred to me in all these years since I heard them both so long ago! Wow!

The total novelty of Simon and Garfunkle's sound when it arrived made them seem ethereal in a world which was also still echoing "Louie, Louie," f'r chrissakes! Just in time!

Thank you for taking the moment to share your observation on the two "fair" songs. I'll be pondering that situation indefinitely! Wow.

Thanks for the information on the origin of "Scarborough Fair." Never would have known otherwise, if you hadn't mentioned it. I'm certain I would have always assumed the American singers crafted it themselves. Yikes.
