Two Dunkin’ Donuts employees who were fired after a third worker denied service to a police officer on Saturday morning said they'd heard things about him that made them "uncomfortable."

Julia Cabral and Sierra Stevens, both 19 and from Des Moines, say they weren't directly involved in refusing service to Des Moines police spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek. The two women, each of whom had worked at the 1220 E 14th St. location for at least a year, were fired Monday.

While Cabral was in the restroom and Stevens was attending to a customer, a third employee told Parizek, "I’m sorry. All the employees here do not want to serve you; they don’t feel comfortable serving you today,” Stevens said.

Cabral said she thought it was unfair that her manager didn't speak with her or Stevens before firing them. The employee who refused service to Parizek was not fired.

I also notice in the story that no one said they did not want to save Parizek because he was a policeman. What was reported was that the server said "I’m sorry. All the employees here do not want to serve you; they don’t feel comfortable serving you today.” That could possibly be more of an uncomfortableness with Parizek himself.

Hope someone digs into this further.
