5. The worst concrete job I have ever seen was in photos brought back from Thailand.

A friend of a friend was staying in a Bangkok hotel and took a look at the little balcony that belonged to his room. It was a fairly new hotel, and there was serious daylight between the exterior wall and the edge of the balcony that should have been part of the pour of that part of the building. It looked as if the exposed rebar was the only thing keeping the balcony from falling into the parking lot.

While there, he also saw another tall building being built, and the building to date was wrapped in concrete forms, some filled and some waiting to be filled, and scaffolding. Scaffolding made of bamboo and ropes. A storm had come through at some point and tore the scaffolding off the building, sending whatever workers there were plunging several stories to their deaths, When the storm had passed....new bamboo, new ropes, new workers. Apparently, Business As Usual in SE Asia.

Those workers were in the process of pouring concrete into forms to create the next storey. With water buckets of concrete hauled up by ropes.
