1. In 2008 I upgraded from my $600/month+ util, 4 room apartment (5 if you count the bathroom),

to a $95,000 "townhouse." It is cheapest and oldest group of townhouses in town and the only place in town I could afford. Built in 1985. My sister helped with the down payment. Mortgage was about $525/mo, HOA $130. Util. ave-- $150. etc..

I know there are many here for whom even THAT is a huge stretch, or impossible, so I feel lucky.

But, it is still the stunning difference in scale!
