surrendered to Gen. Grant. The South lost the War. The confederate memorial in Pittsboro, NC has been removed.

The removal project began around 11 p.m. on Nov 19, 2019, Chatham County, NC. The following morning, the statue was down about 1:30 a.m. About 5:50 a.m. on Nov 20, 2019, the final piece of the stone base was removed. The statue and base have been moved to a safe location until the Winnie Davis Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy arranges a more appropriate location for them.
