I am from North Carolina and I am in the same boat. With everything going on with my health as well as the fact that I am an earth worshipping, very progressive and liberal, Democratic, gay guy I simply cannot live there. And, that is without all the freaking racists and complete loons. It is disheartening. But, I have to think of my husband and myself I guess. One thing that always really upsets me is when the family holdings are dumped without a thought as to the future or the fact that some of us would have liked to have had that property if you didn't want it. But, when you are faced with a slow death or a life where you are getting a bit of help and things are not too bad for your lifestyle... shit happens.
