And dragging a lot of hard won institutional protections and advancements with them. Why? Too comfortable and too ignorant. These people and their kids need to live at the very margins of the developing world for a year. To recognize how fortunate they freakin are to live in this nation and time of comfort. And to recognize the humanity in all peoples and learn a few things about finding satisfaction not based on demonizing others, not based on things, and based on extended support of others. They need to serve others for a time and stop their selfish ways. But they won’t. They will burn it all down until suffering arrives at their door or that of their descendants and even then blame everyone else. How civilizations fall.
