Gov. Greg Abbott intimated on X, formerly Twitter, that setting up a presidential debate in June was a ploy by Democrats to see if Biden was, in fact, fit enough to run for the office. "Today's announcement may not have happened without that disastrous debate," Abbott wrote.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick thinks the move is actually an attempt by President Barack Obama to secure a fourth term in office, which hasn't been done since Franklin D. Roosevelt and is in fact not allowed anymore. Patrick said, like Abbott, that the debate "was a hit job on Biden by his own party," and that "Obama has been running the White House and will continue to run it with Michelle or Kamala."
Sen. Ted Cruz posted a black-and-white photo of President Richard Nixon on X, formerly Twitter, with no caption. Nixon resigned from the presidency in 1974 amid a scandal regarding his administration's involvement in breaking into the Democratic National Committee headquarters. Biden's administration has not been accused of any crime.
Sen. John Cornyn went hard to the hoop, chastising Harris because he claims "under her 'leadership,' criminals and terrorists stream across our wide-open border & fentanyl continues to kill thousands of innocent Americans." He added that Harris is "more radical" and "less competent" than Biden, then suggested Biden should step down as president now.
