4. that sounds like a nightmare

Wish they could force developers to put a retainer on hold for the entire project's cost to make sure it is finished before they allow demolition like that. Sad to hear about the buildings -- can't replace those things. There was a theater near us that was leveled for a 'condo'... popular and artsy theater. The condo started work, and then stopped. Took years before a 2nd developer came in and finished the project. I wouldn't want to live in them as who knows what was stopped/started in between. I imagine a lot of un-screwed bolts and unfinished welds.

Anyway, perhaps time will help your project, but it can be a huge hurdle to enthusiasm to try and start the process over again.
