2. Ah, the enterprising Mr. Yanco(vich)

Yanco (it's common in Argentina for famous/ambitious people with Slavic or Jewish last names to lop off the last syllable) became Bibi's top lobbyist in Argentina during Bullrich's fitful term as Security Minister.

It was Yanco who helped broker Macri's purchase of Isreal's Pegasus phone-hacking technology in 2017.

The one mistake Macri made, is to start using Pegasus against journalists before Congress had authorized it - because by the time committee hearings came around in mid-2018, whistleblowers had enough material to in effect deep-six the bill.

Much to Yanco's chagrin (and Bullrich's) - who stood to make millions, besides having police-state access to the phones of (and thereby the potential to extort) all the who's-who in Argentina.

It's safe to assume that if Bullrich is elected president this October, she'll make sure the Pegasus plan is fully implemented in Argentina - with or without congressional approval.

Thanks again for your input, Judi. This election promises to be the most interesting in Argentina since the intrigue-ridden 2015 cycle at least.

Let's hope this time, people remember history's little lessons. Qué será.
