Southern Democrats or "Momma told me not to come" (3 Dog Night) [View all]

Want some whiskey in your water
Sugar in your tea
What's all these crazy questions they askin' me
This is the craziest party there could ever be
Don't turn on the lights, 'cause I don't want to see

Not only do we have former Republicans running as Democrats, we have Democrats running from being Democrats!

In the South, the Democratic Party is in shambles. Florida and Alabama have Charlie Crist and Parker Griffith, Republicans are now the only ones who can beat Republicans!

Then there is the classic Southern Democrat who is actually very clear in identifying as a social and fiscal conservative (anywhere else a Republican). The following is an actual campaign ad for the Democratic candidate Joe Hubbard for Alabama Attorney General, a southern state, arguably the reddest state in America.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=xJxVou338SM

First, "My opponent is trying to convince you that I'm some kind of liberal. The truth, I'm pro-life, pro-gun, and pro-family."

Second, I don't think anywhere in the ad is there an acknowledgement that Joe Hubbard is running as a Democrat.

Third, law and order candidate is always the Republican meat and potatoes. Besides denying being a liberal, he could be a Republican?

So, if these are our candidates, what does it say about our Party? What does it say about the southern Democratic voter? How do our candidates get a real Democrat to vote for them, if this is the choice?

And would you believe Joe Hubbard is a good Democrat?
