who continued to vote for Democrats when the majority of Dixiecrats became GOPers after the Civil Rights Act.

My in-laws, while they were alive, loved George Wallace. But, they also loved Bill Clinton.

My father-in-law who was very sick in 2000, voted for Al Gore. In fact, when he was being assessed for neurological issues including dementia, he freaked out the Neurology Department at the hospital when they asked him who was President. He didn't say george bush, he said "Al Gore, by God." The neurologist had this funny look and I had to tell the doc that response is not dementia, it's just the way he is. They would have voted for Obama too. In fact, my late wife did and campaigned for him too. Point is, they are complicated people.
