Teamsters Walk Out of Bargaining after UPS Makes Insulting Offer [View all]

After reaching tentative agreements on all the noneconomic items, the Teamsters presented their economic proposal to UPS this week.
Management's counterproposal was so bad (see leaked details here) that the union bargaining team walked away from the table yesterday, saying it would not meet again until the company makes a realistic and respectful economic offer.
The Teamsters will not bargain or accept any contract thats cost-neutral," Teamsters President Sean O'Brien said. UPS raked in a record profit of $13.9 billion last year.
The contract expires July 31, and last week UPS Teamsters voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike if necessary.
