He was asked about his role in Iraq, but in his own stupid way, he said something that was essentially honest, if simple:

"History, we don't know. We'll all be dead..." or words to that effect.

The truth is, no one knows. No one can predict--all it takes is a great (or lousy) leader to change the course of history.

Post WW2 there was a cadre of people who wanted to put the State of Israel smack-dab in the middle of .... GERMANY.

I imagine life would be very different for a lot of people had that proposal been adopted.
