I was sort of befuddled too. They've been recommended for anal sex for a long time. It's a good thing I guess that it is now being officially recognized by the FDA (although Republicans have run the agency for 12 years of the last 22, so, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that it's taken awhile. Neither the Bush II or Trump (mis-)administrations would ever recommend them of course. Some Republicans now would have it all outlawed.
