they are always on the lookout for an excuse to hate other people.

not an american? they hate you.
not white? they hate you.
not a native english speaker? they hate you.
not christian? they hate you.
not a republican? they hate you.
not cis? they hate you.
not straight? they hate you.
hell, wear a mask in public during a pandemic? they hate you.

sure, trans people is their latest and greatest hate these days, but it's nothing special. it's not like they love everyone else. they just gotta get their hate on and minority communities are easier targets because, by definition, there aren't that many to object. divide and conquer, pick off the smallest groups first. same strategy any enemy would use.
