The women I know who breastfed didn't want to mess around with the bottles and sterilizers and other crap their mothers had wrestled with back in the age of "scientific" baby feeding in the 40s and 50s. The fact that the kid drew a lot of extra benefit from the tit was secondary to that.

Politics didn't enter into it.
