Rutgers researchers investigate probiotics as defense against the coronavirus [View all]

Nutritional experts have long called the gut microbiome the body’s second brain, affecting the immune and nervous systems and overall health. Could bacteria naturally found in the intestinal tract also be a way to fight the coronavirus?

Rutgers University recently launched a clinical research study to test whether probiotics boost the body’s natural defenses against the infection. Dr. Daniel Horton, lead investigator of the study, explains.
