That said, Sputnik is not as good as the Pfizer/BioNTech.

But Chile's health authorities noted that deliveries of Pfizer (Chile was among the first in South America to reserve them) have been well behind schedule, and that this was prompted today's decision.

They've actually been mostly (80%) relying on Sinovac's Coronavac - but its efficacy is somewhat wanting.

The whole region - like most of the 3rd world - has been playing catch-up, so here's hoping they can, in fact, catch up.
