7. My sister lives where it seldom gets really hot so she has her own solution. She puts frozen

bottles or bowls of ice in front of her fan.

You freeze an empty 4 pint or 1 litre plastic bottle, place it on a tray and cover with a damp cloth. You can also use a milk jug or a regular bowl of ice cubes. Use a wet towel over it to keep it all moist. Position this in front of the fan so the breeze is cooled from the iced bottle or bowl and your room will benefit from the cooler temperature.

She visited recently and stayed at a friends house that had no air con. It worked like a dream. Especially at night if you put the fan near your bed and the bowl or bottle of ice in from of it, it will cool you off most of the night.
