I know contemplating and going through surgery can be scary, but from what I know, this is actually a pretty short, relatively simple procedure, and it should greatly improve your quality of life. Maybe trying to focus on the benefits you're going to get from this will help you get through it. Easier said than done, I know, but that's my suggestion, fwiw.
Keep us posted so we can hold you in our thoughts and prayers when the time comes.
