Was never to treat them as if they were on their last legs.
It’s a difficult balance between seeming to ignore the reality of the prognosis and maintaining a positive and light atmosphere. But continuing to discuss subjects of interest and passion is a great way to start. Taking cues from the patient IF they want to discuss the future is best.
I’ve also told everyone I love that since hearing is said to be the last sense to go, I don’t want to hear wailing and screaming, but expressions of love as I pass.
