I don't live in the US, so I can't add to the discussion.

It was actually a woman with ALS who started the physician assisted suicide topic here in Canada, back in the 90's.

That level of suffering is horrible, and I agree, she should be able to choose how she wants to proceed. I hope she is able to get the services she so desires. To me, it's completely unethical to allow someone to suffer like that when they wish to end their life due to said suffering.
