Trazodone is an antidepressant medicine. It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with depression.

Trazodone is used to treat major depressive disorder.

Trazodone may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

It may take up to 2 weeks before your symptoms improve. Keep using the medication as directed and tell your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.

Of course not all cases of insomnia are caused by depression. Some are caused by anxiety and other causes. Anti-depressants always AFAIK take at least two weeks to really kick in, which is a real bummer for those needing quicker results.
