They make sure you have seen psychiatrists and primary care doctors and have tried all of their pills and suggestions before they seriously consider you for Botox treatment. My doctor said that it has proven to work throughout 40 years of testing. The theory is that migraines are genetic, women get them more often and it is considered a brain disease and a genetic defect. There is a chemical in our body that accumulates and we can't get rid of it. It activates the nerve to the head and it sends out pain. As I wrote before, when I recently had a very high fever and the flu for two weeks the migraines came back for some reason. I will have to mention that to my doctor when I get the next round of injections next week. I hope the Botox provides relief...the suffering makes a person have no quality of life.
