1. The Declaration of Conscious Speech was not written

by Senator Smith or anyone in her office. It was written by another Senator who realized that it would have more impact if he could get Smith to deliver it. He offered it to her essentially on a silver platter with full rights to have total claim on it.

A really good friend of our family was her Executive Assistant for years, close enough that Smith and her military aide joined Jackie and her family on a family vacation to Norway.

My father new the Senator well enough that he made arrangements for him, my mom and myself to take her out to lunch one day. The Senator's Library is attached to her home. She gave me a private tour of the Library. It was an interesting afternoon hearing her tell stories of her time in office.
