There are few, if any, signs of such a change (assuming you're not naive enough to believe those hilariously off-target "gun ownership is shrinking" polls).
Long before such a shift in societal paradigms concerning guns takes place, I expect the union as currently constituted to fragment, USSR-style. I'd expect something like 6-10 regional polities to be the result, and I'm living in one ("Cascadia" that would be highly unlikely to move in a direction away from civilian gun ownership...mostly because we don't have any real need to do so.
