I read posts elsewhere on DU taking diarists to task for seeming too negative in their posts and responses. These diarists worry that negativity will result in reduced activism among us, leading to the results we fear. Some of us who feel the finger pointed at us believe that the situation is actually much more dire than those urging moderation and optimism are willing to acknowledge.

In this segment, Kieth Olbermann makes observations that I think trenchant. He expresses my anxiety and outrage very, very well. Those of you who think there is little, or even nothing to worry about, that the redoubts of democracy will hold, need to consider that you might be wrong. You need to consider, if only as a thought exercise, what will you do if there is a coup? How active will you be then?

Kieth is right. Flynn deserves a heavy, heavy response. I don’t think that’s in the cards. I think we continue to slide.
