1. My Mother in Law was a WAVE in WWII.

She never served in combat. However she did serve with the code breakers who broke the Japanese code that made it possible to win the war in the Pacific. Because of her unit, and her part in it, the Pacific Fleet knew what the Japanese fleet was doing as soon as they did.

She had some very interesting stories to tell but not in great detail as some of it is still classified and even if it weren't she couldn't bring herself to openly discuss things that were so closely held at the time.
