The argument is they they shouldn't have made him work for his education. That's pretty weak argument in my opinion.

But a bigger objection for me is that they are making a public display about this at all. Buy him a lawn mower, hire him to work for a college fund, or give him a scholarship. I don't really care which. It's all nice and kind.

But stop trying to build your brand on the back of a kid at all.

Make whatever donation privately and let the kid or family take it public if they want.
