Mostly from early in the series. Haven't read too many of the recent ones. Can lose track of folks coming into and out of his life.

He has some recurring opponents, but mostly one on one villians along the way. I'd say they were more like Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta series.

I went to see the Morgan Freeman version of Alex Cross in _Along Came A Spider_ back in 2001 and remember thinking it was a messy movie--I was glad I had read the book to provide some missing context.
