I think this movie (and the book) are both really interesting. Austen's Pride and Prejudice, many would argue, was a big feminist triumph. However, because of regency era standards, the feminist actions of the main characters were somewhat restricted. There wasn't a lot of physical action by female characters--they remained pretty physically weak.

So as odd as it seems, it is sort of cool to introduce zombies to the plot. It gives the women a lot of physical agency.
