6. I used to love to hear Jean Shepherd read it on his radio show.

That was my first exposure to Robert W. Service. He would do whole evenings of Service poetry sometimes. (Shepherd wrote and is the narrator's voice in A Christmas Story.)



(When we go to Victoria, BC, we always stop for a brew or three at The Bard and Banker, a pub that used to be the bank where Service worked before he went to the Yukon.)
