North Central College defeats Mount Union to win 2024 Stagg Bowl [View all]
North Central College quarterback Luke Lehnen ended his record-breaking college football career Sunday in the best way possible: as a national champion.
The Cardinals, led by their All-American quarterback, knocked off 13-time national champion Mount Union, 41-25, at Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday in the Division III national championship game.
It is the third Stagg Bowl win for North Central, located in Illinois, over the past five championship games.
Lehnen, who Friday won the Gagliardi Trophy as the nation's best Division III football player for the second straight year, finished with 298 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. His first touchdown pass broke the all-time Division III mark for passing touchdowns and his final one, the 162nd of his career, tied the all-division record.
