At his "Red Sox" salary of $19 million a year he's one of the all-time free agent busts.

But at $545,000, about $37,000 above the league minimum salary for veterans, he's a steal.

If he can play to his 2014 defensive level at third and regain most of his stroke (AND keeping the weight down) he's a shoe-in to make the Giants bench.
