3. The "unwritten rule" thing gets taken too far.

I kind of get the supposed "rules" about how to play when your team is way ahead (although large comebacks do happen), but I don't see a problem here. If your Showalter, to start with trying to get one run and chip away from there, even if it's the ninth inning. This all seems like a lot of nothing.
