There were a number of names that came up that were considered "neutral, but positive", "directed, but positive" or acceptable in the right area/context. I don't remember them all, but I know "WARRIOR" and "Braves" were considered "directed, but positive" and I believe that tribe was a "neutral positive." "Chiefs" was considered "directed, but positive." Obviously, this speaks only to those local Native American representatives.

There were a lot of school names that they didn't have a major problem with... Maybe more will come to me later.

On edit: these discussions were limited to renaming high school teams. I don't think there was any discussion of differences with professional commercial teams, but in retrospect, I think they would have seen the issues as distinctly different. Encouraging youth with positive Native American imagery is one thing. Exploiting it for commercial value (especially with degrading logos and commercial paraphernalia) is quite another.
