He wasn’t even close.

He also used to say he stopped drinking after his stroke, but I was at a game at Wrigley — after his stroke — sitting about 25 feet from the press box. By game’s end there were six beer cups in front of him. And his rendition of Take Me Out To The Ball Game was a drunken mess.
