In September 1979, I attended Dock Ellis's first game back as a Pirate at Three Rivers Stadium. In that last stint with the Pirates, he made only three appearances, and he retired following the 1979 season.

As for the National League's great run in the All-Star Series in the 1960 and 1970s, I recall the early 1970s sports articles analyzing the reasons for the NL dominance. Of course, in the ensuing decades, the AL won more than its share of the contests.
