Double-Crested Cormorant Colony on the East River's U-Thant Island, NYC [View all]

NYC Audubon has just completed its 32nd consecutive annual Harbor Herons nesting survey of the islands of New York Harbor--including tiny U-Thant Island in the East River, home to a colony of double-crested cormorants and great black-backed gulls. A total of 48 cormorant nests were counted on the island this year.
