Others were tied up and stones thrown at them until they eventually died from blunt force trauma. Some were inspired to burn books, banish people, remove children from their parents, commit genocide, enslave other people, and all sorts of other shitty things.

So although the inspiration for all of those things is still there, none of that is currently socially acceptable thanks to secular attitudes. Now religionists must restrict the action phase of their inspiration to discrimination based on pretty much all categories of social classes and beating women and children into submission.
