In the short term they will probably have to lay off teachers or divert funds intended for improvements or infrastructure. In the long term taxes may need to be raised.

At any rate the lesson here is elections have consequences. School board elections are typically off cycle and low turnout, which is how GOTV efforts in churches can have much more influence.
