I was raised in a Southern Baptist family, but I attended a Methodist affiliated university so I was introduced to the Advent season and have tried to observe it since that time. It was a welcome change of pace to take a break from studying and go to the Advent services at the chapel.

I learned quite a bit from the article myself so I decided to post the thread for both the religious and the educational benefits.

I'm glad that you and your family are able to gather to celebrate the season and also look back on the memories with your father. Best wishes for Advent, Christmas, and going into the New Year.
