not a democracy and you must be obedient and not question what is considered as coming down from God. Opus Dei, the fun little faction that Mel Gibson belongs to and that Robert Novak belonged to before he died, is definitely the Church's version of the PNAC or Tea Party if you prefer. There are also liberal Catholics and hopefully they will start getting more numbers and traction in positions of power in the future considering the scandals endured under the conservatives who have been in charge for a very long time. The real problem is though that the Church will still be operating under the medieval monarchy type of government, no matter who is in charge. So I really can't see a whole lot of change happening other than the complete dismantling of it as the organization that came to be out of the Roman Empire and a whole new charter and organization formed, while still keeping the the See coming from the lineage of St. Peter.
